The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) held an in-person workshop for the recently published Flexibility Needs Assessment (FNA) on the 20th October 2026.
The workshop provided an appropriate forum to explain the FNA's process and results, as well as facilitating industry feedback on the implications of the report.
The CRU presented a summary of the methodology, scope and approach of the FNA report, while also providing stakeholders with an opportunity to ask questions and obtain clarifications on topics of specific interest.
The workshop slides can be viewed here.
As noted during the workshop, the next steps include:
- Setting of indicative national non-fossil flexibility objective by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE)
- Publication of report assessing EU-wide needs across member states by ACER and recommendations of action on cross-border issues
- Engaging with stakeholders on considered changes to be applied to the next FNA process by CRU
